Venture

The latest version of Venture has some new features:

• P/O’s now have freight carrier and freight tracking number on them. If there is a UPS or Fedex tracking number on a P/O, you can track the shipment by clicking on the freight tracking number in P/O lookup.

• Changing a sales order header ship-to method to “One Time Ship-To” no longer clears out the ship-to address. This is so when you need to change a billing address on an order, you need to change the ship-to to “One Time”, and it was clearing out the address.

• Major changes have been made to accounts receivable

This version of Venture has the following change:

• The product maintenance functionality has been moved to the Core module, and the ‘Product’ module is now the ‘Planning’ module.

This version of Venture has the following change:

• Quote lookup is fixed in 3.5.5.

Quote lookup is broken, and we’re fixing it right now. We’ll have Venture 3.5.6 available in the next 5 minutes or so.

We’re releasing a Venture maintenance release @ noon today, and it will require you to update your client to the latest version. We’ll send out another email when the update is done and the new client is available.

There’s been some changes and additions to Venture, and some of note are:

• Vendor/Customer Contacts:
Contact Management is now available in Venture. To view/add a contact, search for customer/vendor, right-click, then click on “View Contacts”.

• Editing Output Emails:
We now allow users to alter the text of some emails sent to the customer . These include: Cancel Order Notification, Direct Ship Notification and Backorder Notification. To these dialogs will show up whenever you output an email as you would normally. The text that appears in the box will appear before the line items on the order, but the line items aren’t shown in the dialog box for sake of simplicity.

• Unit of Measure:
These are now stored in the company configuration so we have consistent UOM, and if you need one that you don’t see, let us know and we will add it, you can no longer type in a free-form UOM.

• We’ve fixed the bug where only the main Venture module had the (D)irect ship item type in the item master.

• There was a bug reported where some Windows users couldn’t open up new modules. We had to change window naming to work around this. You will no longer be prompted for a window title when you open a new window, but if you go to File->Rename Window in the main menubar you can rename the window to whatever you want whenever you want.

This update is recommended for all users.

We made some changes to backorder relief. You can now select a system order number and backorder counter as well as the warehouse code to relieve backorder. You can still just relieve oldest selecting just the warehouse code and leaving system order number and backorder counter empty to relieve all backordered items in that warehouse.
You can also get to backorder relief by right clicking an order, selecting “Assign Stock”, and it will bring up the relieve backorder dialog with the system order number and backorder counter prefilled, and only that order will get stock assigned to it.
This is useful for when stock has been added to the system, and the order you wish to assign stock to isn’t the oldest one.
There is also now a checkbox “Supress Output” that will allow you to suppress printing the fill and release reports if you don’t wish to print those out.

There’s a new client for your downloading pleasure, with a bug fix and an addition:

• The preview on the last tab of sales order processing was showing an incorrect tax amount, it wasn’t taking into account if freight is taxable or not. This is fixed.

• There is a new addition to the item master, the “Consignment Item” flag. It defaults to false, but if set to true it is an indicator that item shouldn’t be included in cost of inventory reports.

There’ s a new version of Venture available, and while most of it is directed towards the accounting side of things there’s some cleanup in the main Venture application.
If you do sales order processing, updating is recommended.

There was a request to not have the results jump back to the top of the results when you print a pick ticket from order lookup, and this is fixed. Actually all the things that just change status don’t change where in the lookup results you are anymore.

• Re-sourcing orders from the client has been added in Venture 3.3.6, and please note:

• Re-sourcing orders is reached by right-clicking on the order in order lookup and choosing it from the menu.

• You can’t re-source an order if any sub-order or split has been invoiced.

• You can consolidate orders by re-sourcing a split to an existing order.

• Consolidating orders will also consolidate freight-in and freight-out.

• Orders, when re-sourced, whether consolidated onto another order, or just moved to a different warehouse have all items set to backordered. Run backorder relief from the “Items” menu on the warehouse you re-sourced the order to show items shippable.

• If Venture can’t re-source the order, cancel and re-enter.
I tested all the combinations of re-sourcing orders I could think of, but If you see anything weird happening please let me know.

Noticed that checking out multiple auctions on one sales order wasn’t working. This has been fixed, and I encourage anyone who does sales order processing to update their client

Noticed that pick tickets weren’t printing for orders that came over the web. The problem is that picks weren’t being printed for any orders that were already in the system. This has been fixed so picks print for web orders.
Update your client to 3.3.2 if you do sales order processing, or as a work-around until you can update, you can go back to order lookup after you process the web order and right-click it to print the pick.

If you do sales order processing, you’re going to have to update your client. The server will refuse to process orders from clients older than 3.3.1 since so much has changed in the code.

The bill of lading screen now shows weights, like was shown in Venture 2.x.

Yet another minor bugfix release is available for your perusal: 3.2.15. A couple small bugfixes, including some more display troubles on assembly margins. As always, just let us know if you have any questions or comments!
