Order Management
A complete review of order management is available in the Venture Core Order Management section; however, presented here are the basic order fields associated with credit card processing and their meanings.
Processing options:
From the order search results tree, the context menu accessed with right-click or ctrl-click has three credit card options.
Decrypt credit card
Credit cards are always encrypted when stored in the Venture database. Only persons with pass phrase credentials may view credit cards on orders current or otherwise. The pass phrase is a password tied to the database encryption that, if matched, allows the encrypted value to be shown as it appeared when entered by the customer or employee as the case may be.
View credit card information from the order lookup search results tree:
NOTE: the credit card number was removed in the above example. It will appear as entered on your system.
Process Credit Card
Selecting Process Credit Card does exactly what it suggests. It takes the credit card assigned to the order and attempts to get approval from the card processor.
Unalert Credit Card
If address verification service (AVS) fails, this command will override the failure and revert the color code to black.
Processing codes:
The search results tree for orders includes a column called "CC Verified". This field has three possible values and three possible color codes.
CC Verified is empty; color is blue: has not been processed
CC Verified is TRUE; color is Black: processed, verified and FULL AVS
CC Verified is TRUE; color is Orange: processed, verified with AVS Failure
CC Verified is DECL; color is Red: card was declined, transaction not accepted.
Card data entry:
When entering a new order with a customer who has never used a credit card, you may enter all new information. If the customer has a credit card on file, it may be accessed from here. You may optionally use a different card by entering manually.
Credit Card Type
This drop down list contains credit cards that your company accepts. These are defined by your system administrator.
Credit Card Number
The credit card number as it appears on the front of the credit card less any spaces. Venture will strip the spaces if you provide them.
Expires (MMYY)
Expiration date as shown on the front of the card. MM is a two character representation for the month and YY is a two character representation for the year.
CVV2 #
A CVV2 number is a "card verification value" (Discover Card calls it the Cardmember ID). Visa, Mastercard and Discover list this on the back of the car as a three digit number:
American Express uses a four digit value for this number:
The CVV2 number is required and enhances fraud protection by ensuring that the card being used is in the possession of the customer (e-commerce, phone order, etc) and that the card number being used is legitimate. A valid CVV2 number typically reduces the cost of the transaction by a percentage point but it varies depending on your card processor.
