Introduction to Digital Asset Control

Definition

What exactly is a digital asset? A digital asset is any form of media that has been turned into a binary source.

Digital assets, as part of a strict definition, include everything from artwork and logos to PowerPoint presentations, text documents and even email. However, for the purposes of discussion as digital assets relate to Venture, we focus on the key component that drives any product oriented business: item codes.

Every item in Venture tells a story. It has a date of creation, purchase and sales history. Many fields of data are stored in the item master record that describe characteristics of the item. These fields tell Venture about the item's size, weight, price, product classification and much more.

Other item-related objects have digital asset potential, too. Vendors have logos and descriptions. Product categories have parent-child relationships and descriptions. Product groups may be defined with item relationships and descriptions -- even photos.

In this section, we demonstrate Venture's capacity for storing and presenting digital assets for print, web and search.
