Introduction To Database Reference

Venture follows a development path based on practical business needs. Rather than developing systems in a vacuum of perfect world scenarios, the Venture path is one of day to day practicality. Venture's evolutionary path follows the humble origins of a small business unit slowly finding its way within a larger organization. As that business unit grew to stand on its own, Venture matured with it.

From day one, the Venture team realized its system needs to be extensible and capable of working in any number of Unix based environments. With this in mind, developers chose open source systems in line with popular "LAMP" design philosophy. But what came out of the early days of development is something much more than a web enabled application.

PostgreSQL was selected as Venture's native database from a practical standpoint. However, Venture development trends expand database support in step with it's open API architecture. With few exceptions, Venture is capable of running on a variety of commercial database systems. And in the practical mindset of its development, additional databases will be formally supported as the need arises.

For the time being, Venture officially supports PostgreSQL. Other systems are available as needed and will be formally documented when formally supported.
