Introduction To Venture Desktop
What is Venture Desktop?
Desktop is the user interface for business processes available in the Venture business system. Venture Desktop is just like any other application on your computer. It has a window environment from which you may perform any business operation tasks asked of you as part of your job.
Your system administrator will likely install the initial copy of Venture Desktop on your system and show you how to start it. Once the application is running and you provide your username and password, you're ready to begin working.
A username and password is required to use Venture and you should make sure that you have those before going through this introductory tour of Venture.
Technical Background
Venture Desktop is built on the popular Mozilla development platform. Mozilla's development platform is used in a large number of internet and client/server applications. Perhaps the most well known application based on Mozilla is the web browser, Firefox.
Choosing the Mozilla development platform affords Venture users a rich window based application experience that is cross platform compatible. Any operating system capable of running Mozilla's XULrunner code base (or any system that can run Firefox) can run Venture Desktop.
This means an organization with a variety of operating systems can use Venture with no additional IT resources. It runs on almost any hardware and almost any operating system.
