Sales Pricing

After completing this section, you will know and understand:

• Sales Pricing
• How to create a pricing matrix
• Searching for an existing matrix
• Add to a matrix
• Pricing methods and maintenance
• Pricing breaks
• Assigning pricing methods to a customer

The key to understanding how pricing works is to understand where Venture looks or searches for information and in what order. There are quite a few benefits to using the Sales Pricing features in Venture. By organizing your pricing for your customers you are able to manage your profits and profit margins through consistent pricing as well as offer your customers flexibility in pricing. In addition, the sales pricing system is easy to modify and allows you to save time when entering orders.

You can choose which pricing method you want to use on a customer-specific basis. Based on the needs of each customer, you can specify a consistent multiplier, enter each price manually, or setup pricing matrices. The pricing method for each customer is defined in the customer record in Customer Maintenance. If you do not choose a pricing method for a customer, the system uses the default source price which is list price unless there is an override with a price contract.

The pricing decision chain first looks at the list price. If there is a matrix price associated with the customer, it is assigned next. Finally, if there is a contract price available, it is selected as the final price. In addition, any quantity price breaks are applied to the final price.
