Venture ECommerce Introduction

The Venture E-commerce system is packaged in two parts: API and application. The API package makes it possible for web based applications to communicate with the rest of the Venture system thereby making it possible to display selected data stored in the secured Venture database online to customers.

The application layer of Venture e-commerce provides the programs required to display the data from your Venture system to you customers. In other words, the e-commerce API deals with data in the Venture system and the e-commerce application deals with displaying web pages to your customers.

The API and application layer provide three e-commerce scenarios:

1) You business does not employ Venture's back office (core) services yet wants a flexible e-commerce solution: use the application layer and its business system interface with your existing back office solution.

2) Your business uses Venture in the back office but wants to use an existing of third party e-commerce application: use the Venture e-commerce API.

3) Your business uses Venture in the back office and the Venture e-commerce application: you have all the tools you need right here!

Native Application System

Venture's e-commerce application layer was established in 1999. It's the grandfather system that sparked the evolution of today's Venture system. A full featured e-commerce application, it supports both retail and wholesale trade. You can offer account-free purchasing with credit cards/PayPal and full account services with an array of customer self-service and purchasing options.

Venture's e-commerce application system is an Apache/PHP/PostgreSQL system. It is tested secure and full featured. In the sections below, we explore Venture's features and setup options as well as account maintenance and user-level permissions system.

At the same time, we understand that e-commerce technology investments can be substantial and often times highly customized. As a direct result, we are happy to provide third party integration tools with the Venture e-commerce API.

3rd Party System Integration

The Venture E-commerce API makes it easy to connect a Venture back office system to a third party e-commerce system. If you need this service, it is fully documented in the Venture E-commerce Service Manual.
